Apple Cinnamon Snickerdoodles

Posted: 22 Nov 2011 11:06 AM PST

-Shredded apple-

I've always loved cookies...by love I mean I'm an addict. I could eat pretty much any cookie if it's baked right.
I blame my dad. When I was younger any type of cookie we had in our house my mom would have to hide(as in, buried in the freezer or in a bowl in the back of the cabinet). My dad would always ask where they were, nobody ever told, because they'd disappear. Fast forward many years later and that's me.
I LOVE to bake cookies, in fact, it's the only thing I bake that is actually a danger to keep in my house(not to into cakes and pies). Aside from my go to Tripe Chocolate Cookies, the last cookie I made were these Lemon Ricotta Cookies, which were pretty much the bomb(and yes, I did just say "the bomb")....they were my husbands favorite.
Today I made Soft Apple Cinnamon Snickerdoodles(super easy recipe!). I made these for two reasons:(1) Snickerdoodles are my dads' favorite and I've actually become quite partial to them, and (2) Because my Grandma text me one day and told me to try them:

I brought some to my husband since he is working overnight tonight. He told me,"Kylee, you may have outdone yourself". By the way, he would totally tell me if they sucked(Ex:the granola I made the other day..horrible).
These cookies were so good...I only have 4 left. Good thing I went to the gym this morning.

B-Town {Down}

Posted: 16 Nov 2011 11:26 AM PST

-View from our room.-

The title of this post is something I say whenever I'm talking about Boston. Why? You may ask....the world may never know.
On Monday the husband and I celebrated our 2nd anniversary. Last year we hit up NYC, this year, Boston; next year, who knows..endless possibilities!
We arrived on Sunday and stayed in the North End(which I refer too as Little Italy), AKA my future home. There are bakeries and cafe's on every corner, it's a food girls dream! On Monday, we ventured up to Newbury Street for some shopping and lunch at Cafeteria-Boston. It was a quick trip, but any time we get to spend together is well worth it!

-Quincy Market...always an interesting time.-

-Nachos from Viva Burrito...cheap, fast and delicous!-
-Random hotel.-
Can I just tell you about Cafeteria? I could go on and on about their fresh, simple food, and their amazing french fries(the are sprinkled with parm!), but I'm just going to tell you....it's beyond delicious and this BLT was AMAZING!
-My BLT from Cafeteria Boston...it's my new favorite thing.-
-Isnt' he handsome?? He may kill me for putting this up.-
And last, but not least I give you Mike's Pastry. This is one of the many bakeries, I mentioned. There is always a line, and by line I mean a mass of people who are basically all pushing to the front. However, it's always worth it. Sunday night, we got a pound of cookies to eat while walking around(yes, a pound..no judging) and Monday we went back and got cupcakes, to go.

-The one on the right, mine.-

{My} Veteran

Posted: 11 Nov 2011 06:51 AM PST

Happy Veteran's Day to everybody! I don't think I've shared much about this on my blog, but we are a military family(the only reason I live Connecticut).  I'm the proud wife of a sailor, but I choose to keep this close to my heart rather than wear it on my sleeve(my boss told me that). Today is his(and all others) day....he got to sleep in and everything! The picture above was taken in June 2008, when he returned from his first deployment...it was a happy day since he had been gone for 7 months. So Happy Veteran's Day to the one person I love more than anything in the world.

Hope everybody has a great weekend! Monday is our 2nd anniversary, so we will be celebrating! What are you doing?

I had big aspirations for this post. I was going to rant and rave about one of my favorite soups and how I had finally mastered it at home. I could technically still rant and rave, except I do have to tell you, in this recipe, more cheese does not equal better....first time ever, I tell you.
Aside from a good hearty meal, I do love a soup and salad. I'm never too full after, I feel perfectly full. One of my favorite soups in Broccoli and Cheddar, a big thanks to Panera for that one. I've attempted it before many years ago using this recipe, but this time I wanted something with minimal ingredients (it was a lazy day). Using this recipe last night, I shredded the cheese and thought to myself putting a bit more than the recipe called for couldn't hurt...I mean it's cheese, the cheesier the better. It was an easy recipe and the end result was pretty delicious, however when they say 2 1/2 cups, use the 2 1/2 cups....I apparently underestimated how potent sharp cheddar can be:)

Roanoke, VA

Posted: 03 Nov 2011 09:00 AM PDT

Two weekends ago, my husband and I ventured 10 hours, in car(next time we fly, we are not good driving people), down and over to Roanoke, VA for a close friends wedding. Friday we took a trolley ride downtown, and had some lunch at The Blues BBQ Company . Which was followed by a purchase at chocolatepaper.....basically a chocolate lover's (me) dream, homemade kettle-corn, and some incredibly neat architecture.
The Blues BBQ Company.....very tasty fried okra.

I chose a chocolate covered s'mores.....it hit the spot.

And from this case: the dark chocolate covered caramel w/ sea salt...

He was kind enough to let me photograph him...many times.

I wish to stay here one day.....soon. It was beautiful.

Wishing A Happy Halloween

Posted: 31 Oct 2011 02:36 PM PDT

Pardon the dust:)

Happy Halloween! Who dressed up today? I wore black, that counts, right?

I spent the better part of last night sipping on hot chocolate and unwrapping caramel candies. For some reason I thought that would be easier than making my own....it probably would have been, had I of known I wasn't going to need 3 bags. The good news is, I bought 4 bags, which means I get one for snackin! The night before, my husband and I carved pumpkins and baked the seeds. I do believe my pumpkin is pretty fantastic. The husband said,"It's not very scary," this is coming from the guy who carved the Apple logo into his. Tonight is going to be filled with trick-or-treaters, way too much candy and some yummy dinner, that I can hopefully come up with before I leave work. I love Fall.
